SIZING FAQ

HOW DO I CHOOSE MY RIGHT SIZE AT CUDDSWEAR?

An easy way to calculate your size is to use our Size Guide, found here. Please note that same size garments may still vary depending on fit. Cuddswear follows the standard body measurement lists, based on average body measurements for all sizes.

For some products we specify measurements in cm/inches on the product page to give you an understanding of the model or fit for that specific garment. Note that these measurements may vary a few centimetres up and down depending on the material used in its production.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SIZE GUIDES AND THE MEASUREMENTS ON PRODUCT PAGES?

The size guides are a general guide for selecting the correct size at CuddsWear based on your body measurements.  The measurements in cm/inches that we in some cases specify on the product pages is for the specific product or garment you're looking at. The measurements that we display on the product pages may vary a few inches up and down depending on the material used in its production. Use these measurements as a guideline to find a suitable style or fit for you.

WILL MY CUDDSWEAR GARMENTS SHRINK?

CuddsWear accepts a shrinkage of up to 3% for woven garments and 5% for knits/ jerseys. To avoid shrinkage, certain items might need ironing after washes, to regain their original shape and fit. If needed, this will always be mentioned on the care label.

DO I NEED TO WASH MY CuddsWear CLOTHES BEFORE WEARING THEM FOR THE FIRST TIME?

As hazardous chemicals are banned throughout our production, washing before wearing is not necessary.

CAN WIRE BRAS BE MACHINE WASHED?

We always recommend hand washing for wire bras, as machine washing could cause the wire to separate and damage the machine.

CAN I WASH AT A LOWER TEMPERATURE THAN RECOMMENDED ON THE CARE LABEL?

The highest recommended washing temperature is stated on the garment's label. You can, of course, choose a lower temperature to save energy. However, heavily soiled clothes might require a higher temperature.

HOW DO I WASH KNITTED WOOL GARMENTS?

Make sure you follow the care instructions on the label. If your washing machine has a wool program, use this. If hand washed, remember to carefully squeeze any extra water out of the garment. Reshape the garment after wash and dry flat for optimal care.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

The washing instructions for your garment sometimes contain extra information on caring for the item. Here are a few more tips on caring for certain materials and garments.

Details

Take off removable details and close Velcro and zip fastenings before washing. Wash nylon tights and delicate garments with details in a laundry bag.

Chunky-knits

Chunky-knits should be reshaped and dried flat to maintain the original shape, which is why these garments are additionally labelled “Dry flat”.

Linen

Linen is a natural material and can easily get misshapen when wet. To restore the garment to its original shape, iron it with a hot steam iron. To keep its sheen, iron the garment on the reverse side.

Viscose

Viscose is an artificial fiber from cellulose and can easily get misshapen when wet. To restore the garment easily to its original shape, iron it with a steam iron.

Silk

Silk is a very delicate material and should be treated with care. Use a detergent for delicates when washing silk and do not stretch the garment while wet.

Wool

Often, airing woollen garments is enough. Use a detergent for delicates when you do wash them. Use the wool or hand wash cycle on your washing machine or wash by hand. Iron after washing to restore the natural sheen.

Denim

Wash jeans inside out to reduce the fading effect. Remove them from the washing machine as soon as possible after the cycle has ended to avoid creasing. Denim’s characteristic appearance is the result of a special dyeing method. As a result, small pigment particles may remain on the surface and can rub off.

Leather and suede

Leather and suede garments should be taken to a leather specialist for cleaning. Follow the care instructions.

Shoe polish and/or waterproofing spray should be applied to leather shoes and bags. This simple measure will improve their protection against water, extending the life of your shoes/bag and making them more capable of withstanding dirt.

Just use waterproofing spray for suede and nubuck, not polish. Try not to wear your suede/nubuck shoes or carry your suede/nubuck bag if it is raining or very damp out because they could become stained and the dye in them could rub off onto your belongings more easily. Insert shoe trees to keep the shape of your shoes and use a shoe horn to protect the high backs/heels of your shoes when putting them on. Undo your laces and buckles when taking off and putting on your shoes.

Down jackets

Place tennis balls in the tumble dryer when drying down garments to distribute the down evenly. The down must be dried completely.

Rainwear

Rainwear should drip-dry. If you dry them in a dryer, do so at a low temperature. Follow care instructions.

CONSCIOUS WASHING

Washing, drying and ironing your clothes accounts for 36% of the total environmental impact of an average garment during its life! This can be reduced to less than half if we make smarter choices.

You can help the planet and your wardrobe by washing your clothes less frequently, lowering the washing temperature, ironing less and avoiding tumble-drying.

By choosing clever care methods you can extend the life of your wardrobe favorites, while reducing your environmental footprint, and your clothes will be just as clean.

Don't wash clothes unnecessary

Don’t wash clothes that are not dirty. Often, airing and brushing clothes is enough.

Lower the washing temperature

CuddsWear always labels its garments with the highest permitted temperature. But you can select a lower washing temperature to save energy. Most detergents wash just as well at lower temperatures. Washing at 40°C uses around half as much energy as washing at 60°C. CuddsWear recommends that heavily soiled clothes and underwear are always washed at the highest temperature allowed. Do not wash your clothes at temperatures hotter than those stated in the care instructions.

Fill your washing machine

Sort the clothes by color and washing temperature. Fill up your washing machine, but don’t stuff too much in. A washing machine is full when you can place a clenched fist on top of the washing without compressing the clothes. Use an energy saving setting – most modern washing machines have one.

Choose a more eco-friendly laundry detergent

Use a more environmentally friendly detergent that is free from optical whiteners and phosphates, since these have a negative environmental impact when released into nature. Use the amount of detergent stated on the packaging. Exceeding the amount recommended will not make your clothes cleaner. To get the amount right, you need to know whether you have hard or soft water.

Avoid fabric conditioners, although CuddsWear recommends that acrylic garments are washed with fabric conditioners to counter static electricity in the garment after washing.

Avoid dry cleaning

Dry cleaning is a process in which the clothes are cleaned using an organic solvent. Dry cleaning has a negative environmental impact when the solvent is released into nature. A small proportion of CuddsWear’s garments are dry clean only, because they contain details or materials that could change color or become misshapen by washing at home. Today, there are also greener methods of dry cleaning that clean the clothes using only carbon dioxide reclaimed from industry. This type of dry cleaning.

Leave your washing out to dry

It is preferable to leave your washing out to dry since tumble drying and drying cabinets use a lot of energy. To reduce drying time, gentle cycle

PRODUCT MANUFACTURE AND SUSTAINABILITY

At CuddsWear we strive to create great fashion at the best price in a sustainable way. All our products are curated with care and consideration for the people who make them and for the environment.

WHY CAN’T I FIND THE FULL LIST OF MATERIALS, SUPPLIERS AND FACTORIES FOR ALL PRODUCTS?

We have so many products being made by different suppliers and factories all over the world —We’re working hard to make sure all details will be available for all our products in the near future.

We’re continuously adding extra information about the sustainability of our materials, but for now we’re focusing on our most commonly used materials. You can, however, always see all of the materials used to make a product in the composition details on the product page.

WHY CAN’T I SEE ONE SPECIFIC COUNTRY OF PRODUCTION (INSTEAD OF A LIST)?

It’s not unusual for the same product to be produced in several countries to achieve a more sustainable distribution across the world. That’s why the list you see could include more than one country, supplier and factory.

When you purchase a product, you’ll see the specific country of production for that item printed on the label.

IS THE FACTORY AND SUPPLIER INFORMATION UP-TO-DATE?

Yes, we are continually updating the information from our suppliers and factories, such as changed addresses or numbers of workers. If we stop working with a supplier or factory, we’ll only be able to display the last information that we had at the point of collaboration.

WHERE CAN I RECYCLE MY CLOTHES?

There are recycling boxes nearby your locality. Drop off your unwanted textiles in the garment-collecting box — Some of the environmental friendly companies are:

  1. Goodwill
  2. The Salvation Army
  3. Society of St. Vincent de Paul
  4. Savers
  5. Blue Jeans Go Green
  6.  American Textile Recycling Service
  7. USAgain
